Woodridge is an award-winning contemporary family home designed by Tompkins Rygole in Newbury. Created as a replacement for a tired 1970s bungalow, the five-bedroom house combines traditional Berkshire materials with striking modern architectural forms to create a home that is both contextually sensitive and highly contemporary. The design carefully balances family living with flexibility for future adaptation, delivering generous open-plan spaces filled with natural light while maintaining a warm and practical domestic character.
Externally, the house features finely detailed Flemish bond brickwork, clay roof tiles and carefully composed modern glazing elements, blending vernacular craftsmanship with bold contemporary geometry. Woodridge received widespread recognition for its architectural quality, winning the Residential Design Excellence Award at the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards 2015 and receiving a Judge’s Commendation at the Brick Awards 2015 in the category of Best Housing Development (1–5 units).
Woodridge has featured in leading architectural, design and property publications including Dezeen, The Modern House, the Homebuilding and Renovating magazine, the Financial Times and The Guardian.
