PROJECT STATUS BUILT

Originally a timber-clad cattle barn, the building was carefully converted into a contemporary family home while retaining its agricultural character. The original timber cladding was removed and repurposed as shuttering for concrete infill panels within the existing timber frame. Original brickwork was restored, roof tiles re-used, and flush conservation rooflights introduced. Although the barn faces north, light is drawn deep into the plan through light wells and large glazed openings overlooking the garden. The result is a highly insulated four-bedroom home with underfloor heating, a biomass boiler and MVHR ventilation system. Triple-glazed windows, frame views of the garden while enhancing energy performance. Internally, reclaimed materials were used throughout, including salvaged brick flooring and corrugated steel from the original barn, reused as cladding for the kitchen island, woodburning stove surround and built-in seating.
