Contemporary Replacement Dwelling Hampshire

PROJECT STATUS BUILT

Planning permission was successfully secured for this contemporary replacement dwelling in rural Hampshire, transforming an outdated chalet bungalow into a highly sustainable and energy-efficient family home. Retaining the established footprint and mature landscape setting, the scheme provides generous modern accommodation including five bedrooms, significantly improved thermal performance, and a refined architectural response to its woodland surroundings.

The design incorporates a carefully considered palette of natural slate, timber cladding and high-quality materials, allowing the building to sit comfortably within its rural context while preserving existing trees, access arrangements and ecological features, including a dedicated bat loft. Working closely with the project ecologist, structural engineer and contractor, EDGE Architecture developed the scheme from planning through to detailed construction information and working drawings.

The project demonstrates how a sensitively designed replacement dwelling can enhance local character, improve environmental performance and deliver a high-quality long-term family home while respecting the unique qualities of its rural setting.

Below are a selection of 3D visualisations produced throughout the design development process, helping the client to explore and refine the proposals prior to construction.
