Four Unit Housing Scheme Berkshire
LOCATION COLD ASH BERKSHIRE
PROJECT TYPE LAND PROMOTION
CLIENT PRIVATE LANDOWNER
PROJECT STATUS PLOT SOLD
Planning permission was successfully secured on appeal for the construction of four sustainable family homes in Cold Ash, following the overturning of West Berkshire Council’s refusal. The scheme comprises two semi-detached three-bedroom houses and two detached four-bedroom houses, each with its own car port, carefully arranged to respond positively to the surrounding residential character and landscape setting.
EDGE Architecture developed a fully coordinated, planning-ready scheme that maximised the development potential of a constrained site while respecting its context and planning constraints. Working closely with a wider consultant team, including planning, ecology, drainage and highways specialists, we delivered a robust and evidence-led proposal that successfully addressed the challenges of the site and unlocked a development opportunity that had previously been considered problematic.
The Inspector ultimately found the scheme compliant with both local and national planning policy, demonstrating how thoughtful design, careful planning strategy and collaborative working can unlock challenging sites and deliver sustainable, high-quality homes.
