This project transformed an outdated timber-framed house into a contemporary six-bedroom family home through a substantial two-storey side extension and comprehensive recladding works. The design reconfigured the building to create a more cohesive and efficient layout while significantly improving the thermal performance of the existing structure through a highly insulated building fabric and new high-performance glazing. Externally, the original mixed materials were replaced with a simple palette of vertical timber cladding and standing seam roofing, giving the house a unified architectural identity. The scheme also included the repositioning of the driveway and single-storey garage to improve the arrival sequence and relationship with the landscape. Working closely with the client as a self-builder, we guided the project through planning and prepared a detailed construction package to support delivery on site.
