Warehouse to office conversion Berkshire
LOCATION FLANDERS BELGIUM
PROJECT TYPE OFFICE CONVERSION
CLIENT BUSINESS OWNER
PROJECT STATUS BUILT
Originally conceived as a warehouse conversion based on the original design concept of Buro Groen, the project transformed a redundant industrial building in Flanders, into a contemporary office and studio space for the landscape design practice. The intervention sought to retain the robust character of the existing structure, preserving the exposed brickwork, steel beams and industrial proportions while introducing a restrained minimalist interior language. White surfaces, integrated lighting and carefully detailed bespoke elements create a calm and atmospheric working environment within the raw shell of the former warehouse.
A lightweight glass extension was added at roof level as a contemporary insertion, housing a meeting room overlooking the surrounding townscape. Set back from the street façade, the pavilion establishes a deliberate contrast between old and new while maintaining the visual prominence of the original masonry building. The project combines adaptive reuse with understated contemporary design.
