Wrapped Up – A Sustainable Retrofit Solution

This project demonstrates how an existing building can be transformed through the application of a high-performance insulated multifoil wrap — effectively giving the structure a new thermal "coat". By enveloping the original building envelope with continuous insulation, thermal performance was dramatically improved, reducing heat loss, eliminating cold bridges and creating a more energy-efficient, comfortable building while extending the life of the existing structure.

Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, the scheme adopted a sustainable retrofit approach, wrapping the existing building in a new insulated skin before recladding. The result is a refreshed appearance, enhanced energy performance and a significantly improved building envelope achieved with minimal disruption and reduced embodied carbon.
